Dushanbe. 19 August. “Asia Plus” — Nearly 195 million KWh of electricity were supplied by Tajikistan in Afghanistan in July this year. This is almost 17% exceeds the electricity exported in this country in the same period last year, reports “Barki Tojik”.
In July last year, the Afghan consumers received about 168 million KWh of Tajik electricity.
According to “Barki Tojik”, electricity, delivered in Afghanistan in July of this year, accounts for almost 12% of the total generated electricity in Tajikistan last month. In July this year, the country produced more than 1.6 billion KWh of electricity.
Besides, electricity, elaborated by the subordinate “Barki Tojik” stations, was delivered in Kyrgyzstan last month. The volume of deliveries to this country in July amounted to about 50 million KWh.
It should be noted that Afghanistan receives each kilowatt of Tajik electricity for 3.7 cents, and Kyrgyzstan – 2.5 cents.
Electricity supplies to Kyrgyzstan began in June this year, after two months of negotiations between the electricity companies of the two countries. The Tajik side proposed its electricity surpluses in the summer to Kyrgyzstan at the price of 3.5 cents per kWh. However, Kyrgyzstan insisted on 2 cents (1 kWh), as well as in the summer period last year. After a long negotiation, the parties agreed to 2.5 cents per kilowatt. The parties agreed to export about 500 million KWh of electricity during the summer period.
A little more than 40 million KWh of electricity was exported in Kyrgyzstan in June this year.
Since the beginning of this year 700 million KWh of electricity generated by hydroelectric power station “Sangtuda-1” and “Sangtuda-2” were supplied to Afghanistan.
Thus, in the seven months of this year, about 790 million KWh of electricity has exported “Barki Tojik” to the neighboring countries.
“Barki Tojik” noted that in the summertime Tajikistan is able to greatly increase the production of electricity. However, due to lack of product markets in the summer, the HPP is forced to escape water in large volumes.
It is expected that after the construction of the regional power transmission line the CASA-1000 electricity exports will increase. It is planned to increase the supply of Tajik electricity to Afghanistan and to establish its exports to Pakistan through this line.
