Inflation for January-August stands at 3.2 percent

DUSHANBE, September 15, 2015, Asia-Plus — In Tajikistan, inflation for the first eight months of this year has stood at 3.2 percent, which was 2.2 percent fewer than in the same period last year, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

In August, inflation reportedly stood at 0.5 percent.

A 2.7 percent increase in prices of products of food industry has been reported in January-August and non-foodstuffs over the same eight month period have risen in cost by 3.8 percent.  Over the report period, prices and rates for services rendered to the population have risen by 4.3 percent.

An official source at Tajik central bank says the government expects the year-end inflation to stand at 7.5 percent in 2015.

Meanwhile, prices and rates for goods and services reportedly rose by 5.4 percent over the same period of last year.

Last year, inflation reportedly stood at 7.4 percent, 0.1 percent lower than it was originally forecasted.
