DUSHANBE, October 6, 2015, Asia-Plus – A Tajik delegation, led by 1st Deputy Foreign Minister, Nizomiddin Zohidi, attended the Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum in Seoul that took place in Seoul on October 5, according to the Tajik MFA information department.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Zohidi reportedly noted that Tajikistan was interested in further expansion of cooperation within the framework of the Forum for the purpose of promoting sustainable development of the Central Asian region.

A special session was carried out to discuss priorities of institutional cooperation between Central Asia’s nations and South Korea.

The Forum participants made a decision to consider the issue of establishment of the Forum Secretariat.

Four thematic sessions were reportedly carried out to discuss issues related to expansion of cooperation between member nations in the fields of territorial information, including land cadastre, as well as cultural resources, customs administration and health care.

The Forum participants adopted the Seoul Declaration.

The South Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum was launched in November 2007, with participation by all five Central Asian countries. Featuring deputy foreign ministers from Korea and the five Central Asian nations, the Forum aims to enhance cooperation in the economic, educational, scientific and cultural fields and to build networks between governments, businesses and academics across the region.  It has been held annually since 2007.  Both sides reportedly agreed to further increase cooperation projects in IT, state-of-the-art technology and manufacturing industry, that reach far beyond the current ones focused on particular areas such as energy and resources.
