Parliament passes law exempting medical equipment for Poytkhat-90 from VAT and customs duties

DUSHANBE, October 9, 2015 Asia-Plus — Deputies of Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament have unanimously voted for amendments proposed by the government to the law on the national budget for 2015.

A regular sitting of the second session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the fifth convocation took place on October 9. 

Presenting the bill, First Deputy Finance Minister, Jamshed Karimzoda, noted that it exempts 90 items of medical equipment delivered to the country for the Poytakht-90 Medical Center from the value added tax (VAT) and customs duties.  

The center, located in Dushanbe’s Firdavsi district between the Republican Diagnostic Center and the Sultoni Kabir Market, was finished in early May this year and more than 600 medical workers are expected to work with this medical center.

President Emomali Rahmon laid the cornerstone of a new city hospital with a total of 650 beds and a polyclinic that can handle 800 visitors per shift in Dushanbe on September 6, 2011.
