DUSHANBE, October 22, 2015, Asia-Plus – Tajik Prime Minister Qohir Rasoulzoda on October 22 received visiting Kyrgyz Vice-Premier Abdyrahman Mamataliyev.

According to the Kyrgyz government’s website, Mamataliyev heading Kyrgyz delegation has arrived in Dushanbe to participate in a meeting of the Tajik-Kyrgyz intergovernmental cooperation for trade and economic cooperation.

In the course of the talks, Rasoulzoda and Mamataliyev reportedly discussed a broad range of issues related to economic, energy, border, transportation, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.

A special attention was paid to bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy and transportation, including implementation of the Central Asia South Asia Electricity Transmission and Trade Project (CASA-1000) and construction of a rail link connecting China, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Iran.

Mamataliyev reportedly pointed to the necessity of implementation of agreements reached by heads of the two countries in Dushanbe in September this year, in particular an agreement regarding acceleration of the process of delimitation and demarcation of disputable areas of the mutual border.

For his part, Tajik Prime Minister Qohir Rasoulzoda noted that geographical location of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan that are rich in water and energy resources allows to jointly develop hydropower engineering and mining sector as well as to use transit potential for improvement of socioeconomic situation of the populations of the two countries, the Kyrgyz government’s website said.
