US Embassy accepts applications for 2016 Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation

DUSHANBE, November 25, 2015, Asia-Plus – The U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe has announced it is accepting applications for the 2016 Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP).

AFCP-supported projects include the restoration of ancient and historic buildings, assessment and conservation of rare manuscripts and museum collections, preservation and protection of important archaeological sites, and the documentation of vanishing traditional craft techniques and indigenous languages.

The Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation was created in 2001 to support the preservation of cultural heritage and demonstrate U.S. respect for other cultures, their history and rich traditions. Cultural heritage endures as a reminder of the contributions and historical experiences of all humanity.

To date, the U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe has reportedly funded 15 projects in Tajikistan, providing over $540,000 in AFCP grants.

An informational session will be held on Friday, December 4, at 10:00am at the American Corner Dushanbe, 66 Tolstoy Street, Dushanbe.  All organizations interested in applying for the program are encouraged to attend. For more details and a full application packet, please visit the following link:

The deadline for submission of proposals is January 10, 2016. Applications will be reviewed and considered as they arrive. Early applications are encouraged.
