The somoni has lost nearly 3 percent of its value against the dollar since January 1

DUSHANBE, January 7, 2016, Asia-Plus – Tajikistan’s national currency, the somoni, has lost nearly 3 percent of its value against the dollar since January 1.

An official exchange rate of the somoni against the dollar set by the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) fell from 7.1101:1 on January 1 to 7.1998:1 on January 7.  On December 31, 2015, the official rate was 6.99 somoni to 1.00 dollar.

The official exchange rate of the somoni against the Russian ruble has fallen 0.3 percent over the same seven-day period: from 1:0.1015 on January 1 to 1:0.102 on January 7. 

Meanwhile, the official exchange rate of the somoni against the euro has increased over the report period from 7.7529:1 to 7.7448:1.
