Rahmon calls on CSTO leaders to joint efforts to combat international terrorism and extremism

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon has called on his counterparts from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member nations not to forget “the necessity of joint fight against international terrorism, extremism, transnational crimes, and trafficking in drugs and weapons.”

In a statement released at a session of the CSTO Collective Security Council in the Armenian capital Yerevan, Rahmon on October 14 drew attention of his CSTO counterparts to the current situation in the region and in the world, especially the complex political and military situation in Afghanistan, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

According to Tajik leader, “the complex military and political situation in Afghanistan poses a serious danger and threat to the southern borders of the Organization and poses threat to the regional security and stability.”         

Rahmon reportedly also underlined the necessity of taking additional measures to address regional and international threats and challenges.
