DUSHANBE, August 9. Asia-Plus — The next meeting of the steering committee for holding the second Tajik-Russian parliamentary forum presided over by the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament) speaker Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev was held in Dushanbe on August 8.
Shavkat Saidov, an aide to the Majlisi Milli speaker for relations with media, said that telling the meeting, Ubaidulloyev had noted that the upcoming forum is dedicated to issues related to protection of Tajik labor migrants staying in the Russian Federation as well as a number of draft amendments to the Russian migration legislation and civil code.
According to him, the main objective of the mentioned amendments is to extend the application of a 90-day term for registration of migrants to Tajik nationals as well.
Besides, the second Tajik-Russian parliamentary forum is expected to result in signing of two government-to-government agreements on establishment of the Russian-Tajik labor exchange and cooperation in the field of social insurance, the aide said.
Saidov noted that heads of Tajik enterprises and labor migrants are proposed to introduce their motions on issues that should be discussed at the forum.
The second Tajik-Russian parliamentary forum formally entitled “Tajikistan-Russia: Potential of Interregional Cooperation” will be held in Moscow and Orienburg from September 19 to 20.
