At Dushanbe International Airport, he was reportedly met by Tajik Prime Minister Qohir Rasoulzoda.

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon met his Turkmen counterpart Serdar Berdimuhamedov at the Kohi Millat (the Palace of the Nation), the official residence of the President of Tajikistan.

The parties are expected to discuss issues related to state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.

A number of cooperation documents will be signed during Turkmen president’s state visit to   Tajikistan.

Meanwhile, a Tajikistan-Turkmenistan business forum and the first meeting of the Tajikistan-Turkmenistan Business Council took place at the Tajik National Library in Dushanbe on May 8.  According to the Turkmen MFA, more than 250 representatives of public and private sectors of both countries participated in the business forum.

An exhibition of export products of both countries and bilateral meetings in B2B format took place on the same day.  The events reportedly resulted in the signing of more than 20 cooperation documents.

According to data from the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, a two-way trade between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan over the first three months of this year has valued at about 19.326 million US dollars.  This consisted of Tajikistan’s exports to Turkmenistan estimated at 235,300 US dollars and Tajikistan’s imports from Turkmenistan worth 19,090,700 dollars.

According to the Tajik MFA, the diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan were officially established on January 27, 1993 by signing of the Protocol "On the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan."

The Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan has functioned in Ashgabat since February 1993. The Embassy of Turkmenistan operates in Dushanbe as well.

In general, the current state of the Tajik-Turkmen relations has a tendency of phased expansion.  The process of practical implementation of the mutual desire of the two countries to work more closely in multi-dimensional cooperation in accordance with the potential and needs of the people reportedly can be seen in bilateral relations.
