DUSHANBE, August 20, Asia-Plus  — Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov yesterday visited the southern Khatlon province to get acquainted with measures taken by local authorities to ensure the regular work of the province”s economy during autumn-winter 2010-2011, the source at the government said.

Addressing a meeting of regional administrators in the city of Qurghon Teppa, the capital of Khatlon province, Oqilov ordered relevant structures of the regional administration to take adequate measures to repair existing hydropower plants and build new small hydropower plants, as well as rehabilitate power transmission lines to provide the population, economic, social and cultural facilities with electricity and ensure switch to the energy-saving light bulbs in the area.

The prime minister demanded at the meeting that existing shortcomings should be removed until October and set precise tasks to remove them, the source said.
