DUSHANBE, August 20, 2010, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan’s savings bank, Amonatbonk, serves some 600,000 pensioners, who receive more than 41 million somoni in pensions and allowances through our bank every month, Ms. Gulnora Hasanova, the chairperson of Amontabonk’s board, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to her, the Amonabonk managers receive their clients and citizens of the country each Saturday on any issues.
“There have been no cases, when our clients complained about the pension payment delay,” Hasanova said, commenting on the August 19 Asia-Plus item titled “Employee of savings bank’s branch in Sughd suspected of embezzling pensions.” She does not agree with wording of the Sughd police directorate.
We will recall the source at the Sughd police directorate said the prosecutor’s office in Zafarobod district, Sughd province has instituted criminal proceedings against Vali Toshev, an employee of the branch of Amonatbonk (Tajikistan’s savings bank) in the district, who is suspected of having embezzled pensions. Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Toshev under the provisions of Articles 245 (embezzlement or misappropriation) and 323 (service forgery) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code. “The preliminary investigation has established that Toshev forged signatures of three pensioners and received 768 somoni,” the source said.
Ms. Hasanova says this offence was revealed by employees of the bank itself in early May already and after reimbursement of the loss Toshev was sacked in early June.
