DUSHANBE, August 19, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Tajik-Russian joint venture, Khujand-ZIL, located in the city of Chkalovsk, Sughd province will assembly Russian type medium class trucks, communal vehicles, garbage trucks, and mini trucks, the Khujand-ZIL director Bakhtiyor Ashourov said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to him, 16 modifications of vehicles manufactured at closed joint stock company, Automobiles & Motors of Ural (CJSC AMUR), based in the Russian city of Novouralsk, have been sent to Chkalovsk.  “We have decided to jointly assemble vehicles of these modifications at our enterprise,” Ashourov said, noting that the AMUR specialists already visited Khujand-ZIL to get acquainted with its opportunities and technologies and a technical center for assembling and selling those vehicles was set up.

“Spare parts will be delivered from Novouralsk and at this stage, we need support of the government,” said the Khujand-ZIL top manager, “If the government supports us, we could create 60-100 new jobs and assemble 20-30 vehicles per month.”

Tajik state unitary enterprise, Vostokrdmet, owns 53 percent of the shares and the Russian enterprise, AMO-ZIL, assumes the 47% ownership interest in the Khujand-ZIL enterprise.

Automobiles & Motors of Urals (AMUR), is the only one automobile manufacturing plant in Sverdlovsk region, Russia.  Founded in 1967, AMUR is now a modern plant producing trucks, communal and special equipment vehicles.  The plant’s capacity is up to 15,000 vehicles per year.
