DUSHANBE, July 19, Asia-Plus — Next year, Tajikistan will be able to protect some 250,000-270,000 hectares of land against hail as 500 antihail units, Alazan-6, will be delivered to the country in the near future, Khursandmurod Zikirov, the head of the Committee for Environmental Protection, announced at a news conference in Dushanbe on July 19.
According to him, the government has allocated one million somoni for purchase of the antihail units. “This year, 135,000 hectares of agricultural fields have been protected against hail due to the antihail units,” Zikirov said.
Ten anti-hail stations with totaling 492 antihail rockets now operate in the country and the delivery of the mentioned 500 antihail unit will bring a total number of the antihail stations in Tajikistan to 20-22.
