42 enterprises directed to suspend their operations for not complying with safety standards

DUSHANBE, July 17, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Over the first six months of this year, 42 enterprises have received notices to temporarily suspend their operations for not complying with safety standards, Murod Jumayev, the head of the State Committee for Supervision of Safety of Work in Industry and Mining, remarked at a news conference in Dushanbe on July 16.

“Among them are the private brickworks from Fayzobod district, state unitary enterprise Naftu Gaz va Angisht, state unitary enterprise TALCO, open joint-stock company (OJSC) Angisht, limited liability company Petroleum-Sughd, unitary enterprise Sughdnaftugaz, Tajik Railway’s affiliate in Qurghon Teppa, limited liability company Vatan, liquefied gas sale station in Farkhor district, OJSC Shabakahoi Barqii Janubi (Southern Electricity Supply Network) in Qurghon Teppa, OJSC Stroitel-K and others,” he said.

According to him, 32 officials and managers were implicated in wrongdoing, and disciplinary and administrative action has been imposed upon them and they have been fined a total of 14,560 somoni.

Four accidents have been registered at enterprises over the same six-month period, Jumayev added.
