More than 300 batches of substandard pulled off market in H1 2010

DUSHANBE, July 15, 2010, Asia-Plus — More than 300 batches of substandard products have been pulled off the shelves in the first six months of this year, Director of the Agency for Standardization, Metrology, Certification and Trade Inspection, Davlatali Hotamov, told reporters in Dushanbe on July 15.

“Over the report period, our specialists have revealed 273.9 tons of meat products, 21.4 tons of vegetable oil, 18.2 tons of macaroni, 265 tons of wheat flour and whet, 14.3 tons of alcohol drinks, 30 tons of soft drinks, 190 tons of eggs, and 9.3 tons of confectionery that do not meet quality standards,” Hotamov stressed.

According to him, 932 legal entities have bee fined a total of more than 166,000 somoni for not complying with quality standard requirements.

Over the report period, the Agency’s labs have checked 363,000 energy-saving light bulbs, Hotamov added.
