DUSHANBE, July 20, 2009, Asia-Plus — Minister of Justice Bakhtiyor Khudoyorov told reporters in Dushanbe on July 20 that more than 80,500 births and nearly 16,000 deaths have been registered in Tajikistan over the first six months of this year.
“In January-June 2008, 71,700 births and more than 16,400 deaths were registered in the country,” the minister said.
According to him, 41,400 marriages have been registered in the country over the same six-month period, which is 4,000 marriages fewer than in the same period of last year.
“Over the report period, registry offices in the country have registered more than 185,000 acts of civil status,” said Khudoyorov, “Notary’s offices over the report period have formalized more than 212,800 operations and notarial fees paid over this period have amounted to some 7.363 million somoni (equivalent to more than 1.67 million US dollars).”
