DUSHANBE, May 13, 2009 Asia-Plus — An operation by officers from the Drug Control Agency (DCA) led to the arrest of an Afghan drug trafficker at the bus terminal in Qurghon Teppa on May 11, according to the DCA press service.
10 packages containing more than nine kilograms of raw opium were confiscated from him. Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the drug trafficker, who is currently held at the DCA-run pretrial detention facility.
Over the first four months of this year, officers from the counternarcotics agency have seized more than 230 kilograms of narcotics, including 78 kilograms of heroin, more than 66 kilograms of raw opium and some 85 kilograms of cannabis.
