DUSHANBE, December 1, 2011, Asia-Plus — Dushanbe’s downtown has been left without electricity.
Nozir Yodgori, a spokesman for Barqi Tojik (the state-owned utility responsible for generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity in Tajikistan), says some residential and administrative buildings in the center of Dushanbe, including President’s Palace, were left without electricity today at around 13:00 as a tower crane fell on a high-tension transmission line in the Youth Housing Complex area.
“Fortunately, nobody was injured,” said Yodgori. “Repair-and-renewal operations are under way and electricity supply will be resumed within the next few hours.”
