KHUJAND, February 14, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Kazakh national has been detained with 10 kilograms of heroin in the northern Sughd province.

According to the Sughd police directorate, Kazak citizen Ruslan Bogatyryov, 53, was detained in the Ovchi-Qalacha area of the Bobojonghafurov district on February 13 on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking.  “Ten packages of narcotic drug that tested positive to heroin weighing 10 kilograms were confiscated from him,” the source said.

Criminal proceedings have bee instituted against Bogatyryov under the provisions of Article 200 (2) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – drug trafficking; an investigation is under way.
