DUSHANBE, February 22, Asia-Plus  — President Emomali Rahmon yesterday met with heads of relevant ministries and agencies and had telephone conversations with a number of regional administrators to discuss the situation that emerged in the country in connection with heavy snowfalls.

According to the presidential press service, Deputy Prime Minister Murodali Alimardon, heads of the ministries of transport and agriculture, chairman of the committee for emergency situations, as well as governors of Khatlon and Sughd provinces and chairpersons of the districts of Ayni, Varzob, Jirgatol, Rasht, Tavildara, Nourobod and Fayzobod reported on measures taken to remove effects of avalanches, clear roads of snow and deliver hot meals to people trapped by avalanches.

The head of state ordered to take adequate measures to provide the population, economic, social and cultural facilities in mountain areas with fuels and foods and support livestock breeders.

It is to be noted that a heavy snowfall complicated road traffic regardless of where in Tajikistan it occurred.
