DUSHANBE, February 23, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Tajik Cultural Center “Khayyam,” named after a Tajik-Persian polymath: philosopher, mathematician, astronomer and poet, officially opened in Moscow on February 21.

According to the Tajik Embassy in Moscow, the ceremony was attended by representatives from the Russian Government, State Duma (Russia’s lower chamber of parliament), Moscow Mayor’s Office and diplomatic missions.

Speaking at the ceremony, Tajik Ambassador to Russia Abdulmajid Dostiyev, ex-Ambassador of Russia to Tajikistan and member of State Duma Ramazan Abdulatipov, and ex-chairman of State Duma Gennady Seleznyov expressed hope that the Center would promote further expansion of cultural cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia.
