DUSHANBE, February 27, 2012, Asia-Plus  — An expert group for finalization and coordination of the CIS draft agreement on joint disaster relief and emergency response will meet in Minsk, Belarus from February 28-29.

The CIS Executive Committee press center notes the document provides for the main types of interaction in mitigating disaster effects and legal status of participants of disaster relief operations.

After final endorsement by experts, the draft agreement will be submitted for consideration to the CIS council of heads of governments.

Strengthening of interaction in preventing emergency situations and mitigating effects of natural and made-made disasters is provided for by the concept of further development of the CIS and the plan of actions for implementation of the concept, the source said.
