DUSHANBE, July 3, 2012, Asia-Plus – Officers from the police station in the Vahdat Township have arrested former lawyer Abduvali Ismatov, 44, following an application by local resident, Ms. Davlatbi Jalilova, an official website of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) reports.

Ismatov last month took 15,000 U.S. dollars from Jalilova, promising to promote release of her husband from jail.  However, Ismatov failed to release her husband from prison and he did not return her money, the website said.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Abduvali Ismatov and an investigation is under way.
