QURHGON TEPPA, September 20, Asia-Plus  — The military court of the Khatlon garrison has begun consideration of criminal proceedings instituted against Major Ilomjon Ibrohimov, former officer with military unit # 07017 of the Ministry of Defense (MoD) deployed in Khatlon province, and civilian Qurbonali Shodmonov.

The trial began yesterday.  Proceedings reportedly started with the reading of the indictment, which charges Ibrohimov and Shodmonov with acquisition, storage and transportation of drugs.

Undercover police officer posing as drug buyer offered Islomjon Ibrohimov to exchange his Opel for narcotics.  Ibrohimov and Shodmonov were caught red-handed on July 16, 2012.

If convicted, Ibrohimov and Shodmonov could face jail terms of eight to nineteen years, the source at the military court said.
