DUSHANBE, October 8, 2012, Asia-Plus — The overwhelming majority of ethnic Tajiks living in the Russian Federation has reportedly been satisfied with the results of recent Russian president’s official visit to Tajikistan.
The Moscow-based media holding, TAJINFO, has conducted an opinion poll among representatives of the officially registered Tajik Diasporas in the Russian Federation.
TAJINFO head Mohammad Egamzod says 93 percent of those surveyed are satisfied with the results of Putin’s visit to Tajikistan. “They, in particular, hailed a document on easing some of the registration restrictions for Tajik migrant workers coming to Tajikistan,” Egamzod said.
We will recall that under a memorandum of intent on further cooperation in the field of labor migration, the period for registration for Tajik nationals on their arrival in Russia is extended from seven to fifteen days. Besides, the term of work permit for Tajik nationals is extended up to three years.
Meanwhile, 5.1 percent of those surveyed believe that agreements reached in Dushanbe will just remain on paper and “there is nothing to be expected from those agreements.”
Nearly 2 percent of those surveyed were indifferent to the labor migration agreements reached in Dushanbe, Egamzod noted.
