Tajik border service asks Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine to double quotas for Tajik military cadets: Tajik border service chief

DUSHANBE, February 15, Asia-Plus – Regime of patrol of the Tajik-Afghan border will remain the same as it was in the days of the Russian border troops, Chairman of State Committee for the Protection of the State Border of Tajikistan, Saydamir Zuhurov, remarked at a regular sitting of the lower house of Tajik parliament on Wednesday [February 15]. 

According to him, one the main problems facing Tajik border troops today is shortage of skilled officers.  Zuhurov noted that today 104 Tajik military cadets are studying at higher military schools of border services of

Ukraine


and


Kazakhstan


.  13 Tajik border officers are currently studying at Russian Border Service’s Academy and two others are studying at the Ukrainian Border Service’s Academy, head of the State Committee for the Protection of the State Border of Tajikistan noted.

asking them to double quotas for Tajik military cadets to study border patrol disciplines,” the border service chief noted.  

Commenting on training of border officers in


Tajikistan


itself, Saydamir Zuhurov noted that at present 250 cadets are studying at the Tajik Border Troops’ Military Institute.  “Besides, there are three-month training courses at the country’s border service,” Zuhurov said, adding that in near future they plan to open short-term courses to on the military disciplines such as engineering and communications.
