Dushanbe health official denies rumors about typhoid outbreak in Tajik capital

healthcare department has denied rumors about alleged outbreak of typhoid in


Dushanbe


as “unfounded”. 

In March, only four cases of typhoid were registered in the Tajik capital, Sherali Rahmatulloyev, deputy head of the Dushanbe Healthcare Department, remarked at a briefing in


Dushanbe


on April 4.  A number of cases of the diseases in the capital has not shown upward tendency, according to him.  

 “In February, many residents of


Dushanbe


applied to medical facilities complaining of high temperature, but medical workers established that it was an acute respiratory infection,” the


Dushanbe


health official said commenting on the situation.  “Besides, rumors about typhoid outbreak appeared in the city and these rumors were connected with doctors’ rounds,” said Rahmatulloyev, “But these rounds are carried out regularly and bear no relation to typhoid.”

He also noted that they carried out work on preventing typhoid and other acute intestinal infections all the year round.  

At the conclusion Sherali Rahmatulloyev stressed that all rumors about alleged outbreak of typhoid in

were unfounded.
