, April 19, Asia-Plus – On Tuesday April 18, Transport Ministry hosted a news conference on the results of work carried out in the first quarter of 2006.

, Saidnabi Makhsumov noted that at present 110 trolleybuses and more than 200 buses were running in
Dushanbe
.
He noted that US$23 million had been provided from the city’s budget over the past seven year for purchasing 100 trolleybuses, 200 buses and 100 minivans.
At the same time, the
Dushanbe
passenger transport service head admitted that quality of serving passengers remained low.
Transport Minister, Abdurrahim Ashurov, telling the news conference noted that they had reached an agreement with one of enterprises of the Russian city of
Nizhny Novgorod
on opening centers for maintaining vehicles in
Tajikistan
.
On the issue of serving passengers, the minister said that a ticket system would be introduced in the
Dushanbe
passenger transport structures again by the end of this year.
“Until it is done it is practically impossible to determine an actual revenues made from activities of passenger transport structures,” the minister said.
