Dushanbe
on May 15.
The action staged by the
Dushanbe
Reproductive
Health
Center
was held to mark an International Family Day.
According to information from the
Reproductive
Health
Center
, the action aiming to raise healthy lifestyle awareness among women targeted more than 400 women in
Dushanbe
. The action was held under support of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
On the same day, a festive event to mark International Family Day was held in the Shahrinav district in central
Tajikistan
as well. Women leaders, veterans of labor as well as representatives from the president’s office and local authorities attended the festive event in Shahrinav.
According to figures provided by the State Committee for Statistics, registry offices in
Tajikistan
have reported 13,000 marriages in January-March this year alone, which is 7.9 percent more compared to the first quarter of 2005. At the same time, 756 divorces have been reported in Tajikistan over the same three-month period, which is 9.9 percent more compared to January-March 2005.
