, May 18, Asia-Plus – On Wednesday May 17, Tajik Drug Control Agency (DCA) Director Rustam Nazarov met in
Dushanbe
with visiting Pakistani Federal Minister for Drug Control Gous Bakhsh Mahara (phonetically spelled).
According to information from the DCA, in the course of the talks the two discussed a progress of the implementation of an agreement between
Tajikistan
and
Pakistan
on fighting drug trafficking that was signed in
Islamabad
on
May 13, 2004
.
Th DCA source says the meeting focused on issues related to exchange of operational information between the drug control agencies of the two countries, integration of Afghan competent bodies into the fight against drug trafficking, and training of personnel.
Pakistani minister arrived in Tajikistan to attend an international conference on countering regional drug trafficking that was held in Dushanbe on May 15-17 and the second two-day meeting of a working group for security and fight against drug trafficking in Central and South Asia that concluded in Dushanbe on May 17.
