DUSAHNBE, May 31, Asia-Plus – A delegation of Kazakh businessmen arrived in
Dushanbe
yesterday to negotiate supply of early Tajik fruits and vegetables to
Kazakhstan
.
According to information from the Kazakh Embassy in
Dushanbe
, the delegation consists of representatives from
Kazakhstan
’s ministry of agriculture and regions as well as businessmen. During their stay in
Tajikistan
they will meet with representatives of
Tajikistan
’s regions to discuss supply of Tajik fruit and vegetables to
Kazakhstan
.
In the meantime, according Asomiddin Rizoyev, deputy head of “Tojikmatlubot” (Tajik Consumer’s
Union
), members of the Kazakh delegation and senior representatives from “Tojikmatlubot” today signed a protocol of cooperation on supply of fruits and vegetables to
Kazakhstan
.
Mr. Rizoyev says from 500 to 1,000 tons of onions, plums and apricots from Bokhtar, Qubodiyon, Vakhsh, Jomi and Rudaki districts have already been prepared for sending to
Kazakhstan
. “Negotiations on fruits and vegetables supplies to
Kazakhstan
will continue in future as well,” the “Tojikmatlubot” official said, adding that during the year
Tajikistan
intends to increase fruits and vegetables supplies to
Kazakhstan
11/2 times.
“Besides, 10 train cars loaded with fruits and vegetables were sent to the
Russian Federation
last week,” Rizoyev said.
As it had been reported earlier,
Tajikistan
intends to double its fruits and vegetables supplies to
Russia
and
Kazakhstan
this year, bring them to 164,000 tons. In this connection,
Kazakhstan
and
Uzbekistan
have lowered rail tariffs on transportation of perishable products from
Tajikistan
.
According to figures provided by the State Committee for Statistics, Tajikistan has exported US$4 million worth of 530,000 tons of tinned and dried fruits.
