is currently considering possibilities for investing in

’s economy, according to the Tajikistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI). Senior representatives from the Tajik CCI met on September 5 in
Dushanbe
with visiting officials from the Indonesian Embassy in
Tashkent
,
Uzbekistan
.
Sunarti Ihvanto (phonetically spelled), adviser to the Indonesian ambassador to
Uzbekistan
, and Irvan Iding (phonetically spelled), first secretary at the Indonesian Embassy in
Tashkent
, were in
Dushanbe
to discuss cooperation with Tajik officials.
The Tuesday meeting at the Tajik CCI focused on the current trade and economic situation in
Tajikistan
and the possibilities of investing in the country’s economy. The Tajik participants said they would promote the organization of business forums for Tajik and Indonesian entrepreneurs, exhibitions and fairs of Indonesian goods in
Tajikistan
, as well as the launch of joint ventures.
A source in the Tajik CCI said Indonesians were mainly interested in launching joint cotton-processing ventures in
Tajikistan
. The sides discussed modern technologies, hydropower, mining, the aluminum industry and minerals as areas, which could drive bilateral trade between
Tajikistan
and
Indonesia
.
