DUSHANBE, January 22, Asia-Plus — China Development Bank (CDB) helps improvement of Tajikistan’s telecommunications sector through a long-term loan.
According to presidential press service, CDB has provided a $73 million loan to China’s ZTE Corporation, Tajik Telecom (state-owned national telecommunications operator of Tajikistan) and Tajik-Chinese joint cellular operator TK-Mobile. “The funds will be used to improve quality of services offered by Tajik Telecom and TK-Mobile,” the source said, adding that the first $30 million of the loan will have been spent already this year.
Presidential press service said that during his recent seven-day visit to China, President Rahmonov had met with Hou Wei Guseir (phonetically spelled), chairman of the ZTE directors’ board to discuss cooperation in the field of telecommunications.
China Development Bank, founded in March 1994, is under the direct jurisdiction of the State Council. At present it has 32 branches and four representative offices across the country.
ZTE Corporation is China”s largest listed telecommunications equipment provider specializing in offering customized network solutions for telecom carriers worldwide. The company develops and manufactures telecommunications equipment for fixed, mobile, data and optical networks, intelligent networks and next generation networks as well as mobile phones. ZTE has been listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange since 1997.
