UNODC donates mobile drug-testing lab to Tajik counternarcotics agency

DUSHANBE, May 16, Asia-Plus – An official ceremony of handover of mobile drug-testing lab to Tajik Drug Control Agency (DCA) was held in Dushanbe on May 16. 

The source at Tajik counternarcotics agency said that the event is part of the Strengthening Control Along Tajik-Afghan Border project of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC)

The UNODC project is aimed at strengthening the capacities of Tajikistan’s law enforcement agencies to improve border control along Tajik-Afghan border.

The mobile lab is provided with special equipment to test drugs, as well as photo and fingerprinting equipment.  A total cost of the lab is some 45,500 euros, the source said.  According to him, the lab will be used in areas, which do not have technical capacities to test seized narcotics.
