DUSHANBE, July 14, Asia-Plus – An impeller for the first unit of the Sangtuda-1 hydroelectric power station (HPS) is expected to arrive in Tajikistan tomorrow, July 15.
Rahmetulla Alzhanov, director general of joint-stock company Sangtuda HPS-1, which is constructing the Santuda-1 power plant, said in an interview with Asia-Plus that heavy transport plane “Antei” with the impeller on board will land at the Dushanbe airport on July 15.
The impeller, which is 6.36 meters in diameter, was produced at the Siloviye Mashiny (Power Facilities) plant in St. Petersburg. According to specialists, delivery of the impeller to the site of Sangtuda-1 is quite a complex task.
Alzhanov said that the impeller will be transported from Dushanbe to the Sangtuda-1 site by special prime movers via Vahdat, Chormaghzak, Norak and Baipaza.
The director general noted that four transformers for the future power plant are also en route to Tajikistan; “two of them are already in-coming – in neighboring Uzbekistan.”
“In all, the work on construction of the Sangtuda-1 power plant is going on according to schedule, and all arising problems are being tackled efficiently, and the first unit should be introduced into operation by December this year,” Alzhanov said.
A total cost of the Sangtuda HPS-1 order for energy equipment to Siloviye Mashiny is $100 million.
Commenting on several cases of typhoid that were detected among builders, Alzhanov noted that that all necessary measures had been taken to prevent spread of the disease — vaccination of all builders is nearing completion, a large bulk of bottled drinking water has been purchased and special water-purifying equipment has been installed. No new cases of typhoid have been reported, according to him.
