Kazakh industrial group to build cement plant in southern Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, August 14, Asia-Plus — Kazakhstan’s financial and industrial group Atameken Holding intends to invest in construction of a new cement plant in Tajikistan. 

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on construction of the cement plant was recently inked by Tajikistan’s Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI) and the joint-stock company (JSC) Atameken Holding, the MoEI press service said.  

The cement plant with the rated capacity of 1 million tons of cement per year is expected to be constructed near the limestone deposit Jarteppa in the Danghara district, Khatlon.  

“The company has already submitted all necessary documents for receiving permission from the local authorities to select the place for constructing the plant and housing for builders,” the source said, refraining from giving further project details.    

The Corporation Atameken was established in New York City, USA, in 1993 by a group of Kazakh nationals who got education in the United States.  The same year, by Kazakh government’s resolution the Corporation Atameken got a status of the Business Cooperation Center in the USA. 

Atameken Holding groups 12 companies dealing with construction, production of building materials, offering services in the field of tourism, hotel and restaurant business, as well implementation of investment projects.  All companies of the JSC Atameken Holding are actively developing new industrial technologies perspective for Kazakhstan, cooperate with Kazakh and world’s leading producers and financial institutions, as well as with the state organizations and public foundations.
