DUSHANBE, September 16, Asia-Plus – Tajik parliamentary delegation led by Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev, Chairman of the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament) also Dushanbe Mayor, is leaving for Moscow today to participate at the second Tajik-Russian parliamentary forum that will be held in Moscow on September 17-18 and in Orienburg on September 19-20
The delegation members include representatives from the parliament and heads of a number of ministries and organizations.
Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the capital mayor, said the first part of the forum formally titled “Russia-Tajikistan: Potential of Interregional Cooperation” will be held in Moscow on September 17-18.
On September 17, Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev is holding meeting with his Russian counterpart, Chairman of Russia’s Federation Council Sergey Mironov and then they will inaugurate the forum.
The forums aims to seek new efficient mechanisms of implementation of various agreements concluded between Tajikistan and Russia.
The first day of the forum is expected to result in signing of a plan of actions on implementation of the agreement between the mayor’s offices of Dushanbe and Moscow on trade-economic, scientific and humanitarian cooperation in 2006-2010.
As it had been reported earlier, the forum is expected to consider a law on social security of labor migrants that will promote improvement of protection of migrant’s rights and creation of proper conditions for their staying and working in the Russian Federation.
The same day, the Tajik delegation will meet with Russia’s Vice-Premier Sergey Naryshkin.
The second day of the forum is supposed to end with signing of a number of agreements and contracts between heads of ministries and organizations of the two countries.
On September 19, Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev will hold talks with Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov, and after that the delegations will leave for Orienburg, where the forum will continue its work. On September 20, heads of the delegations of Tajikistan and Russia’s Federation Council will hold talks with the Orienburg governor and sign a protocol on foundation of the Trading Hose Orienburg-Tajikistan.
We will recall that the first Tajik-Russian parliamentary forum that was held in Dushanbe on August 24-26 last year paved the way for further expansion of cooperation between the regions of the two countries. The first inter-parliamentary forum resulted in signing of 19 protocols, two treaties, five agreements and five memoranda.
