DUSHANBE, July 17, 2008, Asia-Plus — A new cyber café, which is reciprocal gift of Dushanbe’s Sister City in the United States, Boulder, will open in Dushanbe in September.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor, said that that issue was discussed at a meeting of Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev with a delegation of Boulder led by architect David Barrett in Dushanbe on July 15.
During the meeting, it was decided to set up a special commission for acceptance of the facility.
The cyber café is reciprocal gift to Dushanbe. In 1989, Dushanbe sent to Boulder a teahouse.
During 2007, the Boulder-Dushanbe Sister City (BDSC) organization selected a contractor to
build the cyber café in Dushanbe and completed fundraising for the project. The cyber café is expected to include an American restaurant, a library and 18 computers.
