ISFARA/DUSHANBE, July 28, 2008, Asia-Plus – The eighth three-day meeting of the Tajik-Kyrgyz intergovernmental commission for comprehensive consideration of bilateral issues has resulted in signing of a protocol of cooperation.
As it had been reported earlier, the meeting, co-chaired by Tajik Minister of Transport and Communications Abdurahim Ashour and his Kyrgyz counterpart, Minister Nurlan Selaymanov, was held in the Tajik northern city of Isfara on July 25-27.
The meeting considered 13 issues, including state and prospects of further expansion of economic cooperation between the two countries, interaction in solution of border problems, rational use of water-and-energy resources, determination of status of the Tajik enterprises located in the territory of Kyrgyzstan and the Kyrgyz enterprises located in the territory of Tajikistan, as well as cooperation in the fields of transportation, migration, etc.
According to figures provided by the Tajik State Committee for Statistics, a two-way trade between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan over the first six months of this year has amounted to $23.854 million.
