KULOB, July 28, 2008, Asia-Plus — Three suicides and one suicide attempt among women have been reported in Khatlon’s Farkhor district over the first six months of this year, Sharif Ghafforov, chairman of the Farkhor district, told reporters in Kulob on July 26.
According to him, those women have been motivated by family problems. The district head noted that unfortunately, suicide cases among local women are not uncommon.
“In January-June 2007, five suicide cases among women were registered in the district attempts,” Ghafforov said.
