DUSHANBE, August 1, 2008, Asia-Plus – Today, entrance examinations started at some 90 percent of higher educational institutions of Tajikistan, according to the Ministry of Education (MoE).
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Aliddod Rasoulov, an official with a MoE, said that the country’s universities have received more than 31,000 entry applications.
According to him, the largest number of entry applications has been lodged to Tajik National University – more than 3,500 applications. Medical University and Technical University have received 2,000 applications each.
“Today Minister of Education Abdujabbor Rahmonov visited Russian-Tajik Slavic University (RTSU) in Dushanbe and congratulated university entrants on the beginning of the examinations,” the MoE official said.
According to the MoE, 28 higher educational institutions with totaling more than 146,000 students now function in Tajikistan. This academic year, Tajik universities will accept 22,193 students.
