DUSHANBE, August 12, 2008, Asia-Plus — The names of 30 candidates for presidential scholarships from among students with high schools, lyceums, and vocational-technical schools in Dushanbe will be known today, Asia-Plus has learned from Dilshod Qurbonov, head of the Dushanbe directorate for youth, sports and tourism affairs.
According to him, they will be competitively selected by special commission from 70 candidates. “The commission consists of representatives of the country’s committee for youth, sports and tourism affairs and the Dushanbe education directorate,” Qurbonov said.
He noted that presidential scholarships for students of general schools, lyceums, vocational-technical schools and colleges were established in 2005 by government’s resolution in order to stimulate and socially support high achievers.
