KULOB, August 19, 2008, Asia-Plus — In January-July 2008, Khatlon’s Danghara district has produced a total of 20,836,500 somonis (TJS) work of industrial goods, which is 9,554,800 somonis more than in the same period of last year, Poulod Qurbonov, a leading specialist with the industry department within the Danghara district government, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, these figures do not reflect the actual potentials of the Danghara industrial enterprises, “because many of local enterprises are currently modernizing and making major repairs to their production workshops.”
“Thus, local tannery Kavsh, producing boots and shoes for military personnel and other leather products, has stood idle for 6½ months because of major repairs and produced only 1,200 somonis worth of goods over the last ten days,” Qurbonov said, adding that the limited liability company Kuhandiz has produced only 31,500 somonis worth of output over the past six months for the same reasons.
Over the same seven-month period, the Danghara bread-baking plant has produced 151,200 somonis worth of bread and bakery products, which is much more than in the same period of 2007, the Danghara official said.
