DUSHANBE, August 20, 2008, Asia-Plus – A grain-harvesting campaign is underway in Tajikistan.
Narzullo Dadaboyev, a spokesman for the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), told Asia-Plus today that cereals have been gathered from an area of 200,524 hectares so far, which is 70.4 percent of areas under grains in the country. This year, farmers have planted grains on 284,870 hectares.
According to him, a total thrashing yield has amounted to 347,947 tons, including 317,000 tons of wheat, which is 32,856 tons more than in the same period of last year.
