KHUJAND, August 21, 2008, Asia-Plus — A bust of founder of Tajik-Persian classical literature Abu Abdullo Roudaki will be officially unveiled in the center of the northern city of Qairoqqum on August 23.
The event will be held on occasion of the 1,500 birthday anniversary of the great poet that will be marked in Tajikistan in September.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, the deputy Qairoqqum mayor, Rahmat Burhonov, said the bust had been designed by the Khujand sculptor Yusuf Yusufov. “Local budget has allocated 68,000 somonis for production and installation of the bust,” the deputy mayor said.
