QURGHON TEPPA, August 22, 2008, Asia-Plus – Farmers in the southern Khatlon province have produced 216,600 tons of cereals by August 21, which 11,600 tons more than by the same date of last year, the deputy Khatlon governor, Abdurahmon Qodiri, announced at a meeting of the regional administrators, presided over by the Khatlon governor, Ghaybullo Avzalov, in Qurghon Teppa on August 21.
According to him, the Khatlon farmers have pledged to produce 551,000 tons of cereals this year.
The deputy governor said that due to intermediate sowing, local farmers are expected to produce more than 100,000 tons of cereals in addition to the target.
During the meeting, it was noted that Shuroobod, Khovaling, Nosiri Khusrav districts and the city of Kulob have not yet fulfilled their grain harvest targets.
