DUSHANBE, August 25, 2008, Asia-Plus  — The leader of the Social-Demcoratic Party (SDPT), Rahamtillo Zoirov, intends to have legal rpoceedings with officls of President’s Executive Office.

According to him, he intends to file suits against the officials under the provisions of Article 163 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – violation of the legislation on applications of citizens.

Speaking to reporters in Dushanbe on August 25, Zirov said that officials had not considered his open application to the president of May 22, in wich he offered to appoint him as Mnister of Justice for two years.

According to Zoirov, he applied to the president for appointing him as the justice minister for the purpose of creating real foundation of rule-of-law society in Tajikistan.

“On June 22, I received a letter from Mahkam Mahmoudov, deputy head of President’s Executive Office, in which he said that my application had been forwarded to Saymurod Fattoyev, State Adviser to the President for Social Matters,” said Zoirov, “Two months have passed since that time, but I have yet not received any response from Mr. Fattoyev, while by the law on applications of citizens, the final response should be made within a month after the letter has been received; in this case, the deadline was July 22.”

“Therefore, in accordance with Article 163 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code, I intend to bring in an action,” the SDPT leader said, adding that at first, he will apply to the Prosecutor-General’s Office to find out who will be respondent in this case.
