KHUJAND, August 28, 2008, Asia-Plus  — A woman from Khujand, Sughd province has got a long jail term for drug peddling.   

 A court in Sughd’s Bobojonghafurov district on August 27 ruled that the 38-year-old resident of Khujand, Nadezhda Sodiqova be given a jail term of 13 years for drug peddling and that she should serve her sentence in a high-security penal colony.    

The source at the Sughd police directorate said that ms. Sodiqova was detained by customs officers at the Khujand airport on May 4, 2008.  An inspection of passengers on the Khujand-Moscow flight found 5.369 kilograms of heroin hidden in her suitcase.
