DUSHANBE, August 28, 2008, Asia-Plus — The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) has not yet justified all hopes placed on it, Abdunabi Sattorzoda, head of the directorate for foreign policy and foreign economic development with the Center for Strategic Studies, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, holding the SCO summit in Dushanbe is of significant importance for Tajikistan. “Delegations of eleven countries are predicating at the Dushanbe summit to discuss regional and international issues,” Sattorzoda said, noting that such gatherings promote expansion of cooperation of Tajikistan with neighboring countries.
Sattorzoda noted that cooperation between member nations of the Organization, in particular in the field of economy and security, is still not at the proper level. This issue should be discussed at high-level meetings, he said.
